Another Seismic Aftershock Shudders Haiti

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 22 (acn) An aftershock of 4.7 degrees on the Richter scale of the earthquake
that recently devastated Haiti was registered on Monday in Port-au-Prince, without any new
victims or damages reported so far.
The Prensa Latina news agency informed that the earth tremor took place early in the
morning and was felt in the center of the Haitian capital.
The report adds that some people were afraid of reliving the events of January 12, when the
initial earthquake that destroyed that city killed some 230,000 people and left thousands of
others wounded.
After the tragic event, seismographs have registered almost 100 aftershocks.
The humanitarian aid to the devastated Caribbean nation is one of the topics debated by
participants in the Summit for Latin American and Caribbean Unity, underway at the Gran Velas
Hotel of the Mexican Mayan Riviera until Tuesday.
